Pentatonic Scales

I'm pondering which direction to take next in the Certain Violence set. I'd love to do something like 100 angry monks, or a sword duel in the bamboo forest. I have my favorite little rpg's for my Wii and they have gorgeous ambient music THAT I WILL NOT LISTEN TO or play, for a while. :( Have to keep the head clean dontchaknow. Man, I miss Demon Blade. >:(

Anyway, I'd sent the usual faxed request to the brain for some oriental style progressions, and the brain replied with a giant raspberry (although it was a rather pretty raspberry I have to say). So while doing some research I found this sweet article on pentatonic scales, and thought I'd share with you.

New Challenges, or the Riddle of Steel!

So I'm on to the next set of songs I thought might be a good idea - combat. It's not easy, maybe for some artists, but not being a classically trained musician I'm finding it quite challenging. And I would love to write the quintessentially Classic Conan muscles-bulging sword fight tune, but so far, it escapes me and I'm not sure if that will ever be my style.

Arena Battle makes me smile, although I'm not sure how it's going to be received. All I know is every time I play it, my boys go crazy and grab anything nearby (pillows, broomsticks, the poor cat) and go all kung fu fighting on each other. *wince* I guess that's good enough for me!

Waking the Dead is done, and thank goodness.

10 and a half minutes of the voices in my head allowed to roam the asylum. Yeah. We're done here. *twitch*
